Trying out this thing — acting, narration, audio description, disability/access, arts, NYC things. Sometimes in Spanish. (She/they)

Always fun and bureaucratic and not wasteful at all to receive a letter in the mail from a municipal agency that is titled:
Acknowledgement of Agreement to Receive Paperless Notices
Context: Cuomo was the governor of the state and in charge of the Division of Housing and Community Renewal. He should know the difference between rent control and rent stabilization. He was governor when income-based deregulation was repealed by the legislature under a bill HE signed into law.

Now they’re concerned that gov resources will be channeled to wealthier LA areas where many celebs reside. www.reuters.com/world/us/far...

My feelings remained a jumble of annoyed, overheated, almost amused, and mostly… tired. I can only hope they grow out of it. 🤷🏻

For the audiobook version of this new anthology, I got to record two excellent essays, as part of a full cast of narrators.
(If you listen, can you figure out which essays I narrated?)
A possibly overlooked FYI for iPhone/iOS users:
In the most recent update (iOS 17), when you add someone to your contacts, there are finally fields to add someone's pronouns, as applicable.
(On computers, this is also the case in the latest release of the macOS, Sonoma AKA 14.)
If anyone is in touch with the author or the publication, this is really worth addressing.

Screenshot of a Facebook post by Alejandra reads: Just a reminder: While having to use a wheelchair (or other mobility device) is generally seen as a sign of illness/disability/decline... Especially if it is a new part of someone's daily life... And using it may or may not be reversible, or even consistent... NO ONE is "confined" to a wheelchair. No one, anywhere, ever. By definition and function, a wheelchair is a device for mobility. While someone may or may not be in a place to view wheelchairs as tools for freedom and/or independence, that is also something that they ARE, and more people should think of them that way. And unless something is very wrong, a wheelchair user DOES leave their wheelchair one way or another, so they are not literally confined to it, either.
