It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.

I get that the war plans on Signal are a security/safety issue, but I’m not seeing much discussion of how this raises the question of how much the Trump admin is using it for the disappearing feature to skirt FOIA

Today we were informed by the White House that if AP did not align its editorial standards with President Donald Trump’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, AP would be barred from accessing an event in the Oval Office. This afternoon AP’s reporter was blocked from attending an executive order signing. It is alarming that the Trump administration would punish AP for its independent journalism. Limiting our access to the Oval Office based on the content of AP’s speech not only severely impedes the public’s access to independent news, it plainly violates the First Amendment."

Easiest way to understand this is that he wiped out the origin of affirmative action. In their minds, they're ripping the "woke" out by the roots, which apparently includes any instruction that people consider whether they're only hiring white people
