Nice! Mine started to bloom this week as well. I planted it in part sun so it's not as happy as it could be. I love the form of this buckwheat!

It also took mine until year 3 to flower. However, 1 plant turned into 10 in those 3 years.

I can't wait until mine gets full sized.
I have them bound by cement, aggressive Yankee Point and a very dry lawn. I hope this keeps them in check!
I was amazed at how quickly they took over the area I planted them and then quickly moved where the soil was favorable.
I think these are great for large containers to help control spread!
Yankee Point Ceanothus being 'dog pruned' so that it stays nice and flat. Also in the shot is some early blooming Symphyotrichum (Aster) chilense 'Purple Haze'. #CaliforniaNativePlants #Dogs

21.06.2025 20:15 β π 10 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0This post was all the inspiration I needed to plant mine that was languishing in a pot. Fingers crossed that it survives the summer transplant....the soil it in was holding too much water.
I also made sure to plant it at an angle to keep the water from pooling in the center and causing rot.
'Brother James' manzanita doing it's best rose impression as the new growth comes in. This is a wonderful manzanita that more people should know about. #CaliforniaNativePlants

Oddly enough, I've never stopped to eat at Alice's :)
Posted especially for Mikeβs mom. Photo taken on June 14, 2025, in Northern California of what looks like a Rincon Ridge Ceanothus. This is a rare, seriously threatened plant in California (Conservation Status: 1B.1 in California, US [CNPS]). #wildflowers #photography #nature #CaliforniaNativePlants
