Art of characters for Jae Koyanagi's book. i got an inside look at so much of Villain for Hire and it ABSOLUTELY is a story worth telling and seeing

i am so excited to see this come out!!

About the "sapient alien species" that lives on the same planet as the creature I posted earlier today.. it's the Nan-Te'gah. The most prominent feature they have in common are the head appendages.

A drawing of a creature known as a hoori-doori-din-rin. It is a bipedal creature with no proper forelimbs and a round head with giant, orange eyes. The left image presents a bald version of the creature. Its skin is off-white and pinkish and there is a set of eight tiny, featherless wing-like limbs. The middle image presents one of these creatures with all of its plumage. The topmost layer is covered in very dark purple, black and blue feathers. A drawing to the right of this middle image presents the under-plumage which is very colourful and heavily patterned. The right image presents one of these creatures dancing with all of its feathers erect and all the colours visible. The creature also has a blue tongue and the bulbs to either side of its face are inflated to make the display even more elaborate. There is also a small sketch of the creature's head in the bottom right corner.

Introducing the Hoori-Doori-Din-Rin!

Much like the chuckme and the chidderin, they are named after the unusual call they make. They are arguably the court jesters of the world of magical creatures with their painfully unserious behaviour and absurd albeit elaborate dances.

Expression challenge with my OC Zhaikes (species: Zhor Khat) showing his head eight times, each with a different expressions. They are: irritated, sad, an awkward and lopsided smile, repulsed, shocked, a happy laugh, startled spitting, and a furious scream. The four antennae on his head underline each expression, by being held in respective positions. The heads are colored gray and shaded with a soft light. Text on page: What...? (Speech bubble) Scarred half of his face is numb and does not move properly. Almost never laughs as freely as this. Startled expressions are rare, as he is not easily surprised. Art by Kathaja Krim.
