Sam lights one up as she stares out the porthole in her room. Photos of beaches and people are wallpapered around her (on one of them is written "Happy Birthday, Samuel!"). Clay figurines of humans and a horse are displayed right beside her, along with an ashtray filled to the brim with cigarette butts. Sam's feet and legs are covered in scars, and her left arm is bandaged.

Smoker

The oldest oil rigs have been retrofitted into monstrous atolls whose sole purpose is to extract energy from the earth. The carcasses of whalefins, orcas, and even gigantic deep-sea mermaids are displayed around the rig.

The first panel depicts a raider yelling "Fall Back!" as a frenzied wave of hammerhead whalefins rolls across the ocean surface.

Raiders are on the attack as a shiver of hammerhead whalefins leap out of the water and soar above the catamaran sailboats.

Salamander Cat

Five adventurers, along with their salamander cat, introduce themselves to the wandering botanist. Plants are a rarity in Waterworld, so the botanist needs all the help he can get to ward off raiders and smokers.

Neighbors

Two mariners are sailing away on their catamaran, pursued by a plane. On the sail is a portion of a map of Waterworld (with the other half displayed on the back). Victory markings adorn the right side of the cat (15 boats, 3 planes and 2 jet skis).
