Q3 fundraising reports for local elections in Georgia are rolling in. Will be sharing some highlights. Both Q3 and cumulative (β€œtotal”) figures are based only on reported data, with no recalculations. #gapol

Is there a reason APS or Atlanta or even private taxpayers can't just sue Fulton Co into fixing their commercial assessments? Seems like I've seen a lot of politicians complain about this while doing nothing.

The Georgia Public Service Commission is the worst in the nation, and I can prove it. I've been showing this photo for a while. It depicts Ga Power lawyers with BUSINESS BEFORE THE COMMISSION donating money to commissioners for favorable decisions. Which they get. 100% of the time.

Do you know if it's effective at all? Sounds like it requires litigation so Id imagine it's only feasible for major landowners

Atlanta City Council members block controversial skybridge for new Georgia legislative building β€’ Georgia Recorder The state government and Atlanta City Council are at odds over a proposed skybridge connecting the state Capitol with a new legislative office building currently under construction across the street.

"Pilgrim said the skybridge will improve accessibility to the Capitol and to committee hearings for young people, seniors and people in wheelchairs. "

Maybe fix the sidewalks, crosswalks, and building entrances first?

For what it's worth, I've been tailed by Waymos while biking a few times now and they're MUCH more courteous than your average driver.

The biggest loss here would be the bus connections. Lindbergh is a huge bus hub. Losing the direct transit connection from Clifton Corridor to Buford Highway and other routes would be a mistake.

Federal layoffs stymie local efforts to combat homelessness Trump administration cuts are putting pressure on housing-focused nonprofits.

"Many people don’t understand that 40% of households in Atlanta are a week away from homelessness, and that a disruption to any stabilizing program could be catastrophic."

Yikes that's a lot of retail being lost, hope Varuni Napoli can find a new space. I'm for pizza over plazas in this instance.

25.04.2025 16:49 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When you consider the retail & commercial spaces, it comes out to less than 1 car per unit. Not bad at all for Atlanta.

22.04.2025 18:14 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It will depend on the size of the tree and how much care the tree needs - but also I'm not convinced fees need to cover 100% of replacement. Housing is valuable and adds recurring tax value to the city's general fund - we shouldn't need to rely on fees for plantings.

18.04.2025 17:59 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Our position is that we're supportive of doubling the tree reimbursement rate, which would put it in line with inflation. What's under consideration is effectively a 6x increase.

Costs aside, just having all of these trails named and put on paper is still a big step.

Would love if we could follow Los Angeles' approach and pass a law requiring any planned bike improvements to be made whenever city streets are resurfaced.

Seems like a lot of Phase 1 is more expensive nature trails.

The road-running segments should be much cheaper - Id think we could do something like a jersey-barrier lane for <$200j per mile.

There’s an automat on the Eastside Beltline serving hot bagel sandwiches Emerald City Bagels debuted an automat vending machine on the Eastside Beltline, serving hot bagel sandwiches like BECs and special seasonal bagel sandwiches all at the touch of a button.

This is sweet! I've always wondered if someone could make an automat work around there.

Zoning Review Board - Support Amsterdam Walk! What's happening? A mixed-use development is being proposed along the Beltline next to Piedmont Park in the Virginia-Highland and Morningside-Lenox neighborhoods and will be considered this Thursday...

Rich NIMBYs are blowing up the phones of our City Council members with calls, texts, and emails demanding their part of the BeltLine remain an exclusive mansion district.

Click here to respond and tell City council to vote β€œYES” on new homes (including affordable housing) on the BeltLine.

Cobb extension aside, imagining Monroe Drive as the spine of MARTA seems wild. Could've moved Midtown a mile east (although maybe it wouldn't have seen as much growth without the highway access)

Mr. Sood's death was not only tragic, but entirely preventable. I'm proud to join alongside CM Farokhi to not only demand the restoration of this crossing, but for Atlanta to reinvest in the Peachtree shared street experience that was promised to our citizens long ago.
