Coulda served on this jury if I hadn’t fled DC due to (well-placed) worry about 2024 election outcome! (Got called every 2 years like clockwork.) If they stretch far & wide to locate 1+ of the 6% of DC citizens who are Repubs, the best they’ll do is a hung jury.

It takes away to figure out how to cancel an Amazon account, but not so bad once it’s done. Plus, I’ve saved a LOT of money that I used to spend on dumb impulse purchases. Plenty of great substitutes for prime video, Audible, etc.

Taxpayer-funded post-prosecution compensation is for defendants who were found NOT GUILTY in trials.
It is NOT a *crime refund* for ethically-bankrupt grifter-politicians who stacked the Supreme Court with corrupt judges to avoid trial.

I haven’t done any Black Friday shopping in decades, so am happy to support that initiative. Last year, I went to a holiday fair in DC, where I bought gifts mostly from the artists who made them. My friends liked those gifts more and I enjoyed chatting with the artists.

I completely de-Amazoned last year when Bezos wouldn’t allow the Washington Post to endorse Kamala Harris. It definitely takes effort & planning, but I am coming to prefer contacting vendors directly. The extra time it takes to find things online has also reduced unnecessary spending.

My reaction when I saw it was that it is a weirdly accurate depiction of what he’s done to this country for the past 9 months: play-acting a fictional warrior king indiscriminately dumping enormous piles of 💩💩💩 on the entire population, whether they voted for him or not.

The GOP seems to think they persuaded their voters the January 6th insurrection was “a day of love and peace.” In that vein of “don’t believe your lying eyes,” perhaps they think they’ll have similar success twisting an actual peaceful protest into being seen as violent & dangerous?

I’m sure Senator Lisa Murkowski, *maverick* that she is, will lament this development and *hope* that the House will appropriate some funding, whenever they are called back in session by Speaker Mike Johnson.
