No darkness lasts forever. And even there, there are stars.

Yeah, but any number of great plays/films don’t have authentic emotions, tight pacing or compelling plots. So, I don’t know, I don’t think you need any caveats/rules at all. But hey ho. It doesn’t matter.

I still reckon that’s too many rules. Does it hold the audience? That’s it.

After three years of keeping the fella a secret, here’s an official look at Totoro. He’s big and furry and smells like mud.

OPPIE: Don't say it. It's a cursed word... a new cuss. Hiroshima ... Los Alamos... Oppenheimer - shame and bitterness and disgust. There's little point in going back. There is no science left in building bombs. The world knows my name... and it knows what I have done. A skinny ... intellectual ... elitist . New York Jew with chest problems and sciatica... ended the war. I saved many lives ... American lives. Is a soldier comparable to a civilian ... of any nationality? A child... a baby ... a pregnant mother ... a conscientious objector.. an old man at the end of his days..? This was so much philosophy ... now it is my cold sweat. (Beat.) I want to wallow in the adulation... the respect. I want to walk down the street with everyone knowing who I am. I want younger men to stumble as they talk to me. I want university boards to trip over themselves to offer me positions and awards. I want pretty young girls at trendy socialite parties to ask me questions on deep physics and hang to my every word. I want to seem effortless. I want some upstart to question my methodology only so that I may crush them with a withering reply. I accept on my soul ... on my back … I accept the weight of those Japanese. if I have brought atomic power to the world ... if I have nullified war ... then I welcome it all. But ... no ... instead... instead I feel like I've left a loaded gun in a playground. (Beat.) I must remember what those boys said as they painted me green ... because they were right about one thing ... I am not a man. A man would buckle under this weight.
I am something more. I am lead-lined. I am tungsten. There's a passage in the Hindu scripture... the Bhagavad-Gita ... it came to my mind at the Trinity test ... in order to persuade the prince to do his duty, Vishnu takes on his multi-armed form and says:
Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'

My five year old has been watching the rebooted Danger Mouse. Sad it only ran for two series. But it did give us Isambard King Kong Brunel - surely the greatest mad scientist monkey villain in all of British animation.

If you're using AI to write essays, eulogies, a text to your wife, I do think less of you as a person. Ceding your mental and creative abilities to a machine is an embarrassing thing and people should be ashamed to admit doing it in public.

Sad to hear of the death of Robert Wilson. I remember the auditorium of the Barbican emptying during the interval of The Black Rider (2004). Wilson, Tom Waits, Marianne Faithful and William S Burroughs - a dream. Those of us who remained were united in our love. A singular artist. A huge influence.
