Agree with this premise, though gerrymandering doesn't affect the outcome of the *presidential* election in each state. Other than that, though, it's all too real, and is about to get worse.

Did you cancel Paramount? Turn around and give that money to PBS, folks!

I mean, you could cancel Paramount and support @pbs.org instead.

That may be, but let's neither give up the fight for clean elections nor give voice to their plan, unless it's in strategizing how to prevent it!

@hcrichardson.bsky.social has said numerous times how incredibly important art is to the resistance. This film is it! Hope it's really being projecting on real walls in many places.

I think the point to this is to get 1M trained in *leading* non-compliance.

I think "peaceful" conjures up "polite." Non-violent doesn't, and won't, mean polite. And mere demonstration (by that, I mean protesting) isn't sufficient, though it is important. There's going to have to be a lot of serious non-compliance, too.

Unless you bring people into the fold, you're not going to have enough people on board for non-compliance. Discouraging people doesn't do anything aside from... discouraging people. So I'm not turning up my nose at protests, I'm showing up. And encouraging others.

Among other things, peaceful protests bring more people into the fold, increasing the capacity for non-compliance actions, such as general strikes. They are both necessary and insufficient. Indivisible's One Million Rising is about moving into non-compliance action.

2/2 Among other things, non violent protests serve to:
1) Invite new people into fold of resistance
2) Influence institutions which have the power to check abuses of the GOP admin
3) Show people they're not alone
4) Build capacity for the next stages of resistance.

1/2 I continue to see lots of talk on the value of non-violent protests. Discouraging them discourages people who might otherwise be brought on board. They are necessary but not sufficient.

Non-violent protests = necessary but not sufficient. They serve to, among other things:
1) Invite new people into fold of resistance
2) Influence institutions which have the power to check abuses of the GOP admin
3) Show people they're not alone
4) Build capacity for non-compliance actions

Not gonna comply in advance.
