The brave men and women who serve in our national guards must not be used as political props. This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness.

We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops.

Sending troops from Texas to forcefully occupy and suppress cities in Illinois and Oregon IN OPPOSITION TO THOSE STATES' GOVERNORS is literally a civil war and it's cooking my brain that Democrats are simply pretending it isn't happening

Remember that the TX NG (like any deployed from OR, CA, or IL) will not get paid during a shutdown.

So, uproot them from family, home, jobs. And not pay them.

I encourage people to share this image with their friends and loved ones to illustrate how the entire “war ravaged” narrative is a fabrication.

like, not for saying things are horrible. things are horrible! but if you're insisting trump is all powerful and undefeatable...that's not true and harmful and I am not super interested in engaging.

Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas fully backed the deployment. “You can either fully enforce protection for federal employees or get out of the way and let Texas Guard do it,” he wrote on social media. “No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard.”

We are seeing the risk inherent in dismissing actions as “just theater” all along. This is theater, but there’s no “just” about it. It’s not civil war, but it’s the posturing performance of civil war’s elements (“your troops can’t match our troops”). As such it’s drawing closer to the full deal.

Some people watched One Battle After Another and took notes.

On one hand, social progress can take a frustratingly long time here because the United States is so big, and large bodies are unwieldy to move in any direction.

On the other hand, the fact that the United States is so big and unwieldy is very much working in favor of democracy right now.
