The ONLY part I miss is the "Flex Delivery" service, where you can get stuff sent to a pseudo post office box instead of being left unattended on your front porch. They CAN actually evolve to relevant service offerings if the Saints allow (or whomever is clinging to the horse & buggy service model).

Not fair! Ontarians TOTALLY have access to emergency healthcare. Sure, you have to pay for it, but it's available. (seriously hoping there are some Black Friday deals on MRI packages this year - the husband and I aren't getting any younger!)

The service is "unreliable and causes considerable frustration" even when they AREN'T on rotating strikes. TBH, I haven't noticed any difference in the service levels, other than less Canadian Tire flyers.

All of this depends upon one critical factor - whether the current administration decides to obey the Constitution and respect the results, or whether they declare martial law and decide to rule in perpetuity. At this point, there is little evidence to support the first part.

All of this only matters if the current president chooses to obey the Constitution. He's made no attempts to follow it so far. And he's likely days away from completely ignoring the #SCOTUS as well.

When I finally came out to my die-hard Conservative mother, who ranted regularly about the evils of the "Liberals", I asked if she would continue to support a party that denied my very existence. She said yes. Facts will never sway political opinions.

You CAN opt out, in theory, except for Severe Emergency Alerts, which are meant to be used for imminent extreme danger likely to cause widespread loss of life. In practice, law enforcement agencies have been tagging Amber Alerts as "Severe", so the opt out option doesn't work.

Hopefully, the new system will have checks and balances to STOP local law enforcement agencies from sending out Emergency Alerts (meaning imminent threat of loss of life) for Amber Alerts about children abducted in a marital squabble thousands of kilometers away.
