Denver's got the sharpest poke of the clump. If Jokic is ok, they're not even in the clump at all.

About a dozen people involved here at the end. Doctors, his side, Celtics officials, are eventually gonna gather in a room and be like โok, weโre good. Letโs move forward

Shams: Jayson Tatum has been doing 5 on 5 for a period of weeks now. These are the steps you take as you ramp up. At the end of the day only he can be the one that gives the final clearance.

Ha!
20.02.2026 15:46 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Very likely when the math allows, the Celtics will sign a buyout vet for the remainder of the season. It will probably be a use-in-case-of-emergency veteran point guard. Dalano Banton is possible if they can't get anyone better.
Just noting... Lonzo Ball is still out there, and he's better.
The arena announcer just said "Al Horford" as he checked in, and I reflexively thought he was coming in for Queta.
20.02.2026 04:38 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The Celtics are so deep that Walsh and Harper who both had great first half stints, couldn't get back into the game.
...and this doesn't even count Tatum coming back, or Garza sitting, or Amari rising.
Vuc looks great with the second unit.
20.02.2026 03:51 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The Celtics are deep. Deeeeep.
20.02.2026 03:46 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Here's a good article about the Celtics' tank in 2007:

Queta stays in the starting role.

20.02.2026 00:28 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Some loud people do see tanking as really bad. Most fans of tanking teams are gleeful, and watch the ping pong standings all season in anticipation.

19.02.2026 23:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0With the Celtics signing Banton, they have filled their league mandated one-Canadian spot after trading Boucher.
19.02.2026 16:25 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Tonight poses a particularly interesting starting lineup mystery for the Celtics. With the all star break giving the organization time to acclimate Vucevic, does Mazzulla go with him or with Queta at center?
19.02.2026 16:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is the 14th day under the Celtics have been under the minimum number of rostered players. They'll add two players today, undoubtedly 10 day contracts.
19.02.2026 13:12 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That's a good point, but there's a decent chance they ramp him up to that gradually.
18.02.2026 20:04 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0With Vuc added and Tatum's return, there will be a lot of minutes lost for Celtics' rotation players, right? Maybe not.
Say Vuc and Tatum- off injury- both play in the mid 20s.
1/2 of those come from Simons. Garza gets cut from 17 to 5ish which leaves only a 13 min total loss for all others.
Tanking does not guarantee success. What it guarantees is the hope for success, which keeps fans engaged and sometimes even keeps struggling franchises alive. And that is very valuable.

17.02.2026 18:42 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Here's the box from Tankapalooza, an all time classic tank game. In 2007 the Bucks and Cs put their worst on the floor as both tried to lose. Fans of both sides rooted hard for the L.
Little Earl Boykins didn't give a damn though. He went off and Milwaukee "won."

Tanking is good. It adds a second, exciting and competitive race to the bottom. It gives fans of bad teams hope. It's fun. It's an under-appreciated art.

17.02.2026 18:24 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Jay King on Ron Harper Jr:
"When you talk to people in the Celtics organization, it almost reminds me of how they talked about Sam Hauser before he really got a chance. Like the whole organization seemed to be pretty confident that Sam Hauser was an NBA player."
I agree with this, and think there's a strong likelihood that Queta remains the starter with Vucevic on the team.
From Noa Dalzell's Jaylen Brown article today: "Brown is also adamant that (snip) starting center Neemias Queta is only beginning to scratch the surface of his ceiliing."
Great article.
16.02.2026 14:18 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was flatly answering the question you asked, which was, "Who has it been successful for besides OKC?"
The Pistons and Spurs have two of the top three records at this moment, which is successful in comparison to 27 other teams.
...and they were successful. I will remain in place.
