Yorkshire lass now living in County Durham, UK, who loves dog walks, nature, The Archers, roses and gardening. π Not here to talk about politics.
Sheβs cute! π
07.10.2025 14:46 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, I blocked some too after reading the comments. Men who donβt even live in the UK mansplaining to women who do why that vile word is supposedly fine to use here! And then deploying that word and other equally crude language to βproveβ it! Ridiculous.

Footpath beside the river.
White yarrow and pink Himalayan balsam flowers.
Tall plant with yellow flowers, possibly goldenrod but not sure.
A short amble by the river Wear in lunch hour. Saw what I think mightβve been a cormorant fishing in the river, and a couple of waxwings foraging for berries. π
07.10.2025 14:19 β π 728 π 63 π¬ 11 π 3Oh, youβre v welcome! Iβd have loved to learn more about Beaurepaire Priory because it wasnβt initially a daughter house, as Iβd thought. It was built by a Prior of the monastery at Durham Cathedral as a house for himself in his retirement!
Which begs all sorts of questions! xx
Thank you for updating us on your sad news. I am so sorry for the loss of your mum. Weβre all here for you if needed. Hugs. xx
07.10.2025 11:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was thinking that last night when I took the photo, but I couldnβt remember more than a few words about the road being a ribbon of moonlight. Thank you! xx
07.10.2025 11:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was very Narnia! I gather itβs supposed to be even brighter tonight if the weather is clear. xx
07.10.2025 11:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ooh!! π Thanks for the heads-up!!
07.10.2025 11:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lovely. π
07.10.2025 11:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Such a unique place. Did you go into the wood or just walk past? Iβm curious to know how dry are the mosses in the Wood? Is it still nice and damp in there after all the dry weather this summer? xx
07.10.2025 11:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am sorry to hear this, especially so close to the anniversary of your dadβs death. I hope your poor mum is as comfortable as possible and isnβt in any pain. xx
07.10.2025 04:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It is an offensive word in the UK, where I live.
07.10.2025 04:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Itβs a derogatory word which I detest and never use for this very reason, Annie. Agree with you wholeheartedly. Iβm surprised at the abuse youβve received for giving your opinion, but I suppose some people think themselves funny to swear at someone whose situation they donβt know. xx
07.10.2025 04:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That sounds rather organised for George? π #TheArchers

Moon and clouds
Woken by very bright moonlight streaming through the window, so got up to have a look! The sky is like something out of a gothic novel. What an amazing sight.
07.10.2025 04:21 β π 73 π 8 π¬ 3 π 0Goodness, I wonder if itβs very early-flowering, or spectacularly late? π
05.10.2025 19:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Beautifully photographed. π
05.10.2025 19:42 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Very pretty colours. Nice to see a view of the wider site too. xx
05.10.2025 19:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I was going to post exactly the same. Made me laugh too!
05.10.2025 19:38 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0What a pretty colour. π

05.10.2025 19:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I didnβt realise white dead-nettle flowered into the autumn until I googled it! Always thought it was a spring flower. π
05.10.2025 19:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh, in that case Iβll keep everything crossed. xx

Horses on the bank of the river Browney with a large willow tree in the background.
Autumn colours in the mixed woodland of Bearpark Colliery Woods, a reclaimed former coal mine which closed in 1985.
Despite trepidation, enjoyed solo walk on new route, exploring Bearpark Colliery Woods and Beaurepaire Priory.
Apparently the ruins were once a swanky house for the Prior of Durham. Beautiful spot to choose. π
Wouldβve been better with Mr M there though. π
Saw some common toadflax on a grassy bank at the edge of a field, and some white dead-nettle under hawthorns, in County Durham this afternoon. #WildflowerHour
