Of the 8000 plant species introduced to cities around the world, about 300 are in cities on every continent and about 90 are basically in every city. Urbanization has selected for a common set of species that are the fingerprint of our activity: The urban florome.

I've done the same but fear that one was the one I zapped for only a minute or two in the microwave. The rest get five ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

That one died for me! I blame the invading moss. Rustyback, Beech Fern and the 3x common affinis however, all doing well!

I've just joined the Greens (kinda nudged by your Last Leg appearance) and won't be voting Labour again. Quite the announcement for someone in Newcastle. Cue the ostracisation ๐Ÿ˜‚

Hi Jo, I've got a dozen or so native sp all throwing their first fronds in 100% humidity under grow lights (๐Ÿ˜‚). If they survive to hardening off/potting, I'll gladly send you a bundle!

And here I was thinking growing ferns from spores would be tricky! Having sown them in June, I am swimming in Brittle Bladder-ferns. Not entirely sure what I will do with them all, the significant other already thinks we have way too many ๐Ÿ˜ฌ #ferns

Sketchbook page of birds, fungi and other wildlife from a walk along Sutton Bank, North Yorkshire, UK

Last week on the North York Moors (Northeast England) - before the weather turned! The freezing cold will probably finish off most of the fungi; hopefully the birds will move out of the worst of it๐Ÿคž

I seem to remember reading that G. elwesii var. monostictus typically flowers in Nov/Dec. Solitary 'v-shaped' mark would point to that one (I think ๐Ÿ˜†)

I agree! I *believe* this one is a form selected from a species. I'm focusing on getting of the true types - apart from various yellows ๐Ÿ˜‚

A colourful display of #waxcaps on today's @nenature.bsky.social fungi foray. Scarlet, Parrot, Butter, Blackening and Golden were recognisable, but several others, not so much! ๐Ÿ„

This morning I revisited the site where I found the Date Waxcaps (Hygrocybe spadicea) to take a better look and get more photos. There are more than I thought - they're well camouflaged - perhaps a dozen, some still just emerging brown bumps. Still buzzing from the find. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’š #fungi @sewbrec.org.uk

Iโ€™m an absolute beginner when it comes to #fungi, but think we managed eight species today along Hadrian's Wall including Snowy, Crimson, Scarlet, Meadow, Parrot, Golden, Butter and Vermilion Waxcaps.
