2025 off to a decent start with the weather, but let's see if it holds.
20 hours LRGB on Messier 78 with the RC6.
20-minute timelapse, with 10-sec intervals, on the lunar eclipse.

Yes. Hereβs my M17 from last year in narrowband.
29.08.2024 10:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs interesting how much different, and more stunning, M17 in particular looks in SHO vs RGB.
28.08.2024 11:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I use PixInsight with the Russ Croman plugins and a few of Bill Blanshanβs scripts/processes. For something quick like this, I have a few presets for each saved and run the WBPP masters through them. No more than 10 min to get an idea of how much more I want to capture.
26.08.2024 10:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Been cloudy past few nights, so here's a draft of the Wizard nebula. Minimal processing; about 8 hrs of SHO data.

That blend of blue and green is really nice. Neither one is overpowering.

Oh, thereβs a few southern hemisphere targets on my list for when I can get some remote time. Tarantula, Fighting Dragons of Ara, Statue of Liberty, etc.
Dragons can be possible from here - but everything has to line up perfectly for when they peak, and itβs only a few nights a year.
Iβve shot this many times now, but each time I manage to pull out more detail.
M16 - The Eagle, with a focus on the pillars of creation.

In addition to not following directions, going over the limit is just more room to make mistakes.
15.08.2024 01:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I use a laser to mechanically align the focuser and a tribahtinov for the mirrors. Seems to work well and is fairly quick.
14.08.2024 21:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I got an adapter made that physically separates the image train from the primary, and itβs made collimation much easier.
14.08.2024 16:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First light (and then some) with the RC6 from about a month or so ago. M20, the Trifid nebula.

Wouldnβt you want a large set of SN 1a as the basis, rather than 10 handpicked ones?
Cherry-picked data can show anything.
Iβm an astrophotographer with a passion for, and degree in, astronomy.
