i think the executive orders directing agencies to end energy efficiency regulations and open up more land to drilling and mining is so indicative of the character of the american right โ in its view everything, whether people or our larger environment, is something to be exploited and dominated

Literally none of this is surprising for people who took Trump at his word. But now weโre in this situation because enough people were convinced to โtake him seriously but not literallyโ

Hey--if you are over 130 you might know me, I used to cover poverty for The Nation & Bill Moyers. I'm an antipoverty advocate now, and following the work of reporters & others focused on poverty will be more critical than ever. If you agree check out this starter pack. go.bsky.app/C5Eq1hM

In a normal country with a normal president, Pam Bondi would be an insane AG nomination. But because sheโs not a child trafficker like Gaetz, sheโll get unanimous GOP support

Genuinely curious how Trumpโs treasury secretaryโregardless of who it isโplans to both implement insane tariffs and keep Wall Street from revolting. Seems an impossible taskโand maybe why itโs taken so long to land on a nominee

California will fail to address poverty as long as false narratives shape the policies
The false narratives that describe people in poverty often don't reflect research or reality, and further harm them by stalling solutions.
Looking forward to posting more on here, particularly as folks on our side of the aisle figure out how to regain the trust of voters and deliver for our constituents.
Resharing my piece in CalMatters last year that seems as relevant now as it was then
