Really glad to see this, Engage fandom has a really bad problem about focusing on the same 5 or so pairings and it’s really kinda held it back I think

(I still don’t know how I had the only Merrin/Yunaka fic that wasn’t explicit for over a year, they EXCHANGE BLADES how much gayer could they get?!)

It’s too hot to do much, so I randomly started Legend of Mana. And holy crap this game is just a SaGa game but action, it’s really obviously the same sprite style as SaGa Frontier

I’ve played Genealogy, Binding Blade, and New Mystery

All of these have their flaws, and I’m still mad I didn’t get to play NM in 2011

I keep meaning to make time for Thracia since then I’ll have played SOME version of all the games, but never quite get there. Maybe next year

I’ve actually only played 7 (and I need to finish it, hopefully this week). But it feels telling that a series that’s like… *about* dudes doing dude stuff is doing more ambitious and relevant storytelling than any FF game released in the last 10 years.

I'm a sloppier SRPG player turning it off, but so few games EVER used it having to worry about it in FE was a burden

I also think it should be a gameplay-only mechanic at this point. Let characters play their roles in the story regardless, accounting for it makes the writing worse

One thing I adore is a proper Lois Lane, and she’s SO GOOD in this!

Like, this panel. Look at this? I had to cry, because this is just Lois Lane, she wants the truth, she wants the world to be better, and something new and strange isn’t a threat to her, it’s a step to the truth!

But it’s instead this real dive into Superman as an immigrant, a huge parallel between him and the Chinese family at the center of the story, and using that to bridge the original Superman power set into his modern depiction? Gosh! Brilliant!

In my quest this summer to actually get around to things I’ve said “hey I should really read <x>”, I read Superman Smashes the Klan

I think people who told me about it did it a mild disservice. To be sure it could have been 200 pages of Supes tossing around Klansmen like rag dolls and been good…

I’m genuinely not sure? I play most routes in an FE game but don’t any full replays nowadays, and also skipped Silver Snow, so 3H and Fates tie at 3…

FE7 predates that, so maybe I did play it more? I feel confident I played Eliwood twice and Hector once, did I do Eliwood a third?
