Since when did St Annes claim to be Lytham? There are a large number of people doing the opposite of that, celebrating and promoting St Annes on Sea as a beautiful, heritage-rich garden town by the sea that's been loved by families for 150 years.

Today my job is beach 🏖️

I am so happy you said that, I was in a vintage shop in St Annes on Sea, the owner had a large framed Hunky Dory cover on sale,I asked her about it and she said they played Kooks at her grandaughters christening. I said I love that so we started singing it together, great moment.

So much of this made me chortle!

Fascinating walk yesterday courtesy of the RNLI at St Annes. As the sea channel of the River Ribble was prone to moving they built 'training walls' to keep it straight as far out as 15 miles from Preston docks. It's a 1.5 mile walk out from St Annes at low tide and really interesting to see.

My first migrant Osprey of the year flew NNE over the Heyhouses area of Lytham St. Annes this morning. As much as I enjoyed watching Ospreys at a breeding site recently, you can’t beat the dramatic moment when a migrating bird appears. #LancsBirding

A couple of weeks after all the Christmas trees were buried on St Annes beach to encourage new sand dunes, we were back. Today was about planting Marram grass on the exposed patches to consolidate the accumulated sand.

Great photos but it's the opposite direction to Wales ( you can see it clearly across the sea on some days). The outline behind Blackpool is the Cumbrian mountains.

😆 is Lytham still posh? Not been in years. My dad's parents moved to St Annes when my grandad retired and both places seemed la-di-da to us. Les Dawson moved there too. He was always in their shop in Unsworth and popped up in loads of places locally in Prestwich. Trying his jokes out on em all 😄

🍺 St Annes-on-the-Sea, Lancs: these two joints were opposite each other, so a handy double scoop! The busy Hop Shoppe had a café-bar vibe (I drank the flavoursome but chewy Little Dreamer from Liquid Light), while the Keg N Cask was a bustling micropub (sharply bitter, eponymous ale from Phoenix).

Saw my first snowdrops of the year this morning, in Ashton Gardens here in St Annes. This, combined with the lengthening days, always lifts my spirits, as it shows the darkest part of winter is now behind us.
