As far as I understood, the problem isn't that handles are open and you can set up whatever, but that the domain-related handles are used as a verification criterium. So there's this fight about whose handle is more legitimate. Which also misleads users. Some names are just very common, too...

I am not setting up the Kubernetes clusters but read books on them to understand what's up with my pods and to better communicate with the IT staff. And, yes, that's also something I could not predict when I did my undergraduate studies in early modern history.

Are there any #Kubernetes users out here who can point me to resources on how to push commits from a #pod to a #Github repository? I suppose this also depends on the individual Kubernetes set-up, which is managed by my institute. But advice, experiences and links are very much appreciated!

I read a long Github issue on making BlueSky and Mastodon interoperable. Despite all the challenges, I at least hope for a read-and-repost connection in the nearer future. That colleagues are now on all the different platforms is a pain.

Vielleicht war Jesus auch homosexuell. Wenn es so war: kein Problem. Jesus hatte jedenfalls einen guten Umgang mit seiner Sexualität, Männer wie Frauen haben sich bei ihm sicher und respektiert gefühlt, er hat Sexualität nicht missbraucht, um andere zu unterdrücken oder zu manipulieren. Vorbild!

My January research trip takes me to Konstanz (my alma mater) to give a talk on geohumanities, but AI is high up on my list of research interests, too. Interesting discussion about archival triage, (digital) storage costs, and the pros & cons of mass digitisation. One issue that should also be mentioned: (Digital) historians usually don't get much funding for their own technology efforts, which creates great dependence on archival services.

What is the "best" menstruation tracker app in terms of data safety? I would like to pay for a good app with a simple and clear interface. Flo is very much about the expert advice and community discussions, which I don't need. And I have doubts about their data policy. Any recommendations?
