Good discussion with someone who was initially told he couldn't study computer science at uni because he is blind. Spoiler alert: he could, he did, and he is now employed as a computer scientist. #UKHE really needs to get better at understanding disability

There’s a certain kind of straight man who also sings ‘bananas in pyjamas’ to himself to dog whistle a homophobic slur & in my direct experience that man is always, without exception, wrecked looking. The confidence he must have to pronounce upon anyone should be studied.

This is what a sector in crisis looks like. It’s beyond time for support from government.

The scenes on our streets are shameful consequences of decades of austerity - government after government fanning the flames of anti migration instead of tackling inequality.

We can & must make different choices. Solidarity to all communities under attack. We stand together.

I haven’t had any correspondence from the branch about this nor do I know if they have represented to her just how unhelpful she has been. I assume they have? It is shocking.

Yes, she came out quite quickly with unsubstantiated comments like it’s a ‘takeover’ of a ‘failing’ institution. Kent isn’t failing by any metric. It hasn’t been easy the last few years but the resilience of my colleagues across all roles has been truly inspiring. She honours none of that.

To publicly describe an institution as failing is mind blowing in its stupidity and actually reckless.
