It doesnβt stop them bowling no balls though.
Same argument is made with free hits in white ball cricket.

Congratulations!!
13.08.2025 21:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not like cricket to keep things simple!!
13.08.2025 18:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The problem I have with the numbers is they take the womenβs number somewhere around the 2nd innings of the match, when often a number of people have come in to get food etc but not actually there for the game.
13.08.2025 18:50 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thatβs very true.
Think itβs more I donβt like the 2 for a no ball.
Time to stop having no balls count as 2 runs!!!
Amazes me why they ever thought that was a good thing to do
Youβre not going to get that, as the parents who will take their kids are at the clubs playing cricket!
And the clubs need the people in to be spending money in order to survive.
Saturdays always have the bad drop offs in game attendances.
Sunday is the better day but you have to do 2 day games
Saturdays will never get good crowds in double headers as the vast majority of club cricket it played on a Saturday.
13.08.2025 17:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Start in April and end in September then.
23rd April Women started this year, the Men started on the 4th
They donβt have multi day cricket to schedule in, itβs very easily done.
And if you have to cut games, which I donβt believe they do , you cut the format that doesnβt get people watching.
That loss puts Welsh Fire women all but out of the tournament now.
They would have to win all of their next 5 games to progress
Given they still have Brave to play twice and Oval Invincibles, seems unlikely to happen.
Shocking really given where they were last year

Just imagine how much lower that would have been if they had reviewed the Matthews wicket when she was on 0
13.08.2025 15:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That is Welsh Fires lowest ever total for both Men and Women
Previous lowest
Women - 94 all out against Northern Superchargers earlier this comp
Men- 87 all out against Brave in 2023

Mahika Gaur bowls out in the Powerplay
20 balls, 10 runs, 2 wickets
The only female bowler to do so, and first time in the Womenβs Hundred.
Joining Dan Worrall from London Spirit men in 2023

Beth Mooney captaincy strikes once again.
That indecisiveness has just cost Originals another wicket!!
And it would have been a huge wicket of Matthews.
Please can we get rid of her as captain, she really isnβt very good as skipper.
#TheHundred
Donβt worry those of us at Lancs have been questioning there commitment to the womens game.
They say that they are committed and want to have a WPL team but Iβm not convinced and leaves a lot to be desired right now.
Magic Meeks strikes again
10 balls, 3 runs, 2 wickets
Absolute brilliant superstar

And given the reduced number of games now, you can bet your bottom dollar no club is going to put women on second and loose out on that revenue
13.08.2025 14:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And how many left when it was the women?
Thatβs the important bit, Iβve been a many games where the women play second and people have left stating βitβs only the women letβs go nowβ
There is absolutely no reason why both formats should not have a proper Home and Away format.
Any reason is just poor excuses for it.
And if the ODC is the βCrown Jewelsβ then why reduce the knockout stages down to 1 semi final? Itβs all absolute BS from the ECB
Why they are playing one day games against NZ in early may is silly. They should be playing blast then.
Playing one day games after the one day World Cup and not before and then no T20 before the T20 WC just sums it all up
Can guarantee they will be rested due to the βworkloadβ they have had after the World Cup and before The Hundred.
The new owners are already saying they expect all England players, playing all Hundred games, therefore itβs the Blast that will suffer.
Well thatβs a whole other issue about if the right teams are the ones being moved up or not.

12.08.2025 09:39 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With the greatest respect appointment to view itβs marketing BS!
Whatβs a better experience is players actually playing infront of crowds, not reducing the numbers down.
Speak to players, they donβt want equality they want equity and these changes arenβt doing that.
You can still play internationals. But how you picking that team without any games to look at?
But you still need to to build the momentum for the WC,
You can beat your money they wonβt play between the WC and the Hundred!
I repeat
Why does it have to match the men and be a single block?
Why when you have a World Cup would you decide to play none of that format before the World Cup begins??
16 T20s either side of the World Cup (8+8 maybe), you gather momentum and then build on the WC after.
I do look forward to hearing the thoughts of @rafnicholson.bsky.social
@crickether.com and others on this.
To say at the moment Iβm really annoyed is abit of an understatement
I will note that while all the reviews of the mens structure has been put to counties to vote on etc (with a lot of division I admit)
Nothing has been put to county members about the womens restructure, and with Project Darwin, these are technically county sides now, reporting to county members!
Trying to grow the game and you keep changing the goal posts.
Growing the game doesnβt mean always doing what the men do!!
I mean are they genuinely trying to destroy the womens game, and have they actually spoken to anyone that follows the game.
