Competent teams value the input from their introverted members.

They have original thoughts and perspectives.

Theyโ€™re pretty tolerant too.

Itโ€™s noticeable then when they withdraw support for another team member. This shift can unbalance the team. Managers need to watch out & remedy this.

Bandwagons are extroverted phenomena.

Thatโ€™s why you as an introvert will instinctively resist them, but canโ€™t explain why!

Resist trying to become extroverted. Just know when you need to be more vocal and collect effective phrases for those moments.

The opposite of calm is chaos. In human form, chaos is panic.

An introvert advantage is we introverts understand introversion and experience being on the receiving end of extroversion.

Extroverts donโ€™t โ€˜getโ€™ introverts so are at a disadvantage when working with us quieter folk.

Yes, introverts get drained through small talk yet energised through long, deep conversations about a niche interest with one other person.

What niche interest would that be in your case?

While introverts constantly seek opportunities to be alone, extroverts constantly seek opportunities to connect.

Thatโ€™s how bandwagons come about ๐Ÿฅด

The constant introvert challenge is to portray on the outside who they are on the inside.

A reminder that - like a snow globe - introverts need to regularly let their thoughts settle to recharge their batteries.

Everyone has their favourite way to do this: music, reading, walking the dog, a bath, etc.

This activates acetylcholine which the introvert brain needs to feel at ease.

It acknowledges their perspective without showing you agree, and signals the end to the topic.

Then seize the opportunity to change the subject and move on!

โ€œFair enoughโ€ is a great phrase to diffuse & exit a conversation when your opposite number is being passive aggressive or generally difficult.

Works a treat, I promise!

Only compare yourself to who you were yesterday.

(Any other comparison is a waste of time & energy.)

When hit by fight or flight feelings, exhaling activates the calming system.

Inhale deep into the belly, not chest.
Exhale as long as possible.
Repeat until calm returns.

Introverts can survive without external validation.

Itโ€™s a superpower!

Beware of it manifesting as aloofness though.

New theory:

introverts resist interacting with strangers online as they canโ€™t predict how long it may take & how much energy it will require.

So they hold back.

True?

Have realised how podcasts edit out all natural pauses, leaving little time to digest whatโ€™s been said as conversations allow in real life.

With more folk leading more isolated lives, experiencing conversation via podcasts, how quickly will this medium impact the way humans communicate?

Remember that introversion is a preference, like being left or right handed.

Sometimes you need to you also use your other hand, like when driving. And sometimes, the situation requires you to be more extroverted.

One introvert advantage is our ability to stop ourselves from putting our foot in it before the words leave our mouths.
