AI effectively represents the average of everything fed into it. So, it makes sense that, if you're an above-average writer, asking it to edit your writing will make your writing worse.

Birthright citizenship is a "longstanding custom" in the same way that freedom of speech is a longstanding custom (they are both explicitly guaranteed by the text of the Constitution)

We executed our own “Voluntary Separation Plan” from the @washingtonpost.com quite some time ago — by unsubscribing. What Bezos touches becomes befouled.

Opinion: College students, go ahead and major in what you love "The lesson here is simple: Major in what you love, not what you think will get you a job," David M. Perry writes.

"Learn to code" was always bad advice, unless you actually like to code. College students have the best chance of professional success if they major in topics that interest them. Today in @startribune.com. Please tell high school students and parents.

Hey you’ll never believe this, but the thing that everyone who knew anything about this said over the last dozen years would happen if you bombed the Iranian nuclear facilities happened

Note to media:
“Trump says” is not a story. He says A LOT. He lies a lot. Do some sifting, discerning, contextualizing. Otherwise it’s just stenography. And you’re embarrassing yourselves.

He was humiliated last weekend. This weekend he bombed someone.

My guess is there is a relationship between those two events.

Sam Clemens was here before us. He put this honest bit of politics into the mouth of a self-styled “king” in 1883:

“Hain't we got all the fools in town on our side? and ain't that a big enough majority in any town?”

I just like to post these data from time to time to puncture the mythological aura of mid 20th c protests. They were less popular than pretty much any 21st c mass action & people criticizing them used the same lines. Protest is about people coming together, shaping narratives, & building power.

The great thing is, now we have TWO annual "No Kings Day" dates: the OG "No Kings Day" of July 4 — plus the "You Weren't Listening" bonus day of June 14.
