When I was a young coder, I did not understand Microsoft’s coding styles saying NOT

It isn’t easy to learn anymore. My mom tried to teach me on our stick-shift Toyota van, but my parents weren’t patient and I wasn’t a good learner. My wife then tried teaching me on a Opel rental on our Italian honeymoon - I wasn’t a good learner. So how should I learn this Luddite skill?
