Today, United is the 4th biggest U.S. company and the largest health insurance corporation in the world. By buying up thousands of smaller companies, United has integrated themselves in the health care system from cradle to the grave.

3 years later, they almost DOUBLED their stock price AGAIN and were # 4 on the Fortune 500 list. From clinicians and patient data, to supplemental insurance and pharmacy benefits, the Sunlight Report found that the corporation amassed ~2,700 subsidiaries, spanning countries across the planet.

Then, things really started taking off in 2020. While the world was facing a global pandemic, United succeeded in 💥TRIPLING💥 their stock price over 5 years. They expanded beyond insurance and doctors and bought up administrative and financial entities to grease the wheels.

Five years later, in 2015, the company added nearly 200 subsidiaries to their umbrella including pharmacies and clinicians. As they grew, so did their stock price. The bigger the company became, the more money CEOs and shareholders made.

In 2010, UnitedHealth was number 22 on the Fortune 500 list, and their stock price was a little over 25 bucks per share. It included now-familiar name brands like UnitedHealth Care.

WHY DOES IT MATTER? Short answer: When you look at a website to find your doctor, there's a good chance UnitedHealth Group is pointing you to their doctor. AND, all of this info being integrated poses major data privacy risks for patients and providers.

So what does RVO do? If you go deeper down the rabbit hole, you see that they own companies that rate doctors, provide medical info, deliver health and wellness products, and offer savings on prescriptions...😵‍💫

United’s Subsidiaries 'Care Services' and 'Solaris' also have ownership stakes. This means that UnitedHealth Group owns 50.003% of RVO (just enough to control everything they do).

RVO is a joint venture between UnitedHealth Group and a company called Red Ventures, but they aren’t the only ones who get a piece of the action…
