I'm a regular on @amtrak.com between New York and Boston. What ought to be a pleasant trip is marred by incessant, booming announcements by the conductors. I asked one about it today. He said they have to be loud because people wear headphones and otherwise wouldn't hear them. Help!

Close pal of Trump -and- Maduro: if you liked the corruption and oligarchy that arose after the fall of the Soviet Union, you'll love what we're up to in Venezuela.

Healthcare Jobs Have Become the Engine of America’s Labor Market Demand for healthcare workers is outstripping all other sectors. That means big changes in a labor market where retail and white-collar hiring have stalled.

"Nearly all of the 130,000 new jobs added in January were healthcare jobs or positions related to healthcare."

"See Zeihan (2022) for a strident account of the supposed, near apocalyptic, economic crisis to come from low fertility and declining populations"

My @amtrak.com train is delayed. As if to demonstrate the economic value destroyed by such delays (by wasting my time on this task), I built a model to estimate the business value lost each year by Amtrak delays and cancelations. Conservatively: $240 million/year.

Anyone have a better estimate?
