...volunteering, the more you get out of it. Being surrounded by extraordinary archaeological finds is amazing in itself, but talking to visitors from near and far, discovering their interests and imparting enthusiasm for and, hopefully, some knowledge of the Museum’s items is extremely rewarding.

#Onthisday in 1935, Malton Museum opened its doors for the first time!

Initially named the Roman Museum, it displayed artefacts discovered in archaeological digs led by Dr J.L. Kirk and Philip Corder at Malton Fort, Langton Villa, and Crambeck in the late 1920s and early 1930s.
