Btw, FWHM of the CN and CO bands in the these cofactor intermediates (Ni-B, Ni-R, Ni-S) ist mostly unchanging, so the 2nd derivative spectra represent the absorbance spectra quite faithfully

These are two 2nd derivative FTIR spectra of a [NiFe]-hydrogenase we are currently working on. The O2-inhibited, oxidized spectrum shows weakly absorbing CN bands (at higher frequencies) and strong CO band(s). The H2-reduced spectrum, however, reveals CN bands stronger than the CO bands...
