On Sunday, Ambassador Joanna Roper and Defencé Attache Colonel Piers Strudwick laid a wreath at the US Memorial Day ceremony in Margraten, honouring the over 10,000 American military service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom during WWII.

This week, our Department for Business and Trade team hosted the UK's pavilion at the World Hydrogen Summit, promoting collaboration and expertise exchange between the UK & NL hydrogen sectors.

Ambassador Joanna Roper attended the Summit, gave a keynote speech, and met with our UK & NL partners.

Yesterday, Ambassador Joanna Roper hosted the presentation of a ceremonial sword by the Mayor of Wolverhampton to the Dutch Regiment Fusiliers Prinses Irene - both a thanks for the relationship 80 years ago and to mark the strong UK-NL people-to-people and defence relationship today.

Yesterday, UKinNL attended the 80th anniversary liberation of The Hague commemorations at the Grote Kerk.

On 8 May 1945, the Royal Netherlands Brigade Princess Irene who had been stationed in Wolverhampton during the war, entered The Hague as liberators.

Today marks Victory in Europe Day. 80 years ago today, WWII ended in Europe.

Today, we joined the UK in observing a 2-minute silence, to honour and remember those who fought for our freedom.

A day to remember that peace cannot be taken for granted.
