Archaeology student investigating Pacific pottery. Previously a bioinformatician, I analyse p-xrf, LA-ICPMS, micro-CT data from pottery. I also experiment with using VR to convey archaeological concepts.

A recent global index of 170+ cities placed Groningen 5th among the least-stressed cities to live in.
2025 was mostly garbage, but there were some good moments.
One of my favorites was when a family of beavers built a dam in just a few days, saving the Czech Republic 30 million Czech koruna (US$1.2 million) for a wetland restoration project the government had been planning for 7 years. 𦫠πΏ
Hivemind question: Palmer Penguins is doing great work avoiding overuse of Fisher's iris data. What other "dataset substitutions" do you like? Or just generally other cool, real, open datasets that are good for teaching because established methods work pretty well on them?

or when you need to push-back on silly reviewer requests (e.g., asking for p-values in table 1)?
