Birmingham rolls out opt-out HIV & Hepatitis testing in emergency depts All patients aged 16 or more who have bloods taken at the emergency departments in Birmingham will be also be tested for HIV, Hep B, and Hep C as part of an opt-out testing scheme.

NEWS: #Birmingham expands opt-out #HIV & #Hepatitis testing to all emergency departments.

The scheme, aiming to get the UK to zero new HIV diagnoses by 2030, is part of the @ftcbirmingham.bsky.social initiative.

Similar schemes across the UK have already found over 7,300 new cases.

An overly intrusive question or a poorly worded letter could be the difference between a person accessing care or ceasing engagement.
