I appreciate raccoons; they are really quite extraordinary. This little guy came to my back door like that to politely inquire where I had moved the compost bin to. I snapped his photo and carved his portrait.

And @femsmicro.org at #FEMS2025 decided to host different interactive workshops to design with microbes 🦠 or about the growing need for ethics and policy discussions around microbial solutions - this is where I noticed my „science mojo“ awakening again*
*it got lost in the post-PhD burnout phase
There is also sooo much interesting research across all subfields of microbiology in forms of sessions and beautiful posters 😍 (I have a soft spot for well designed posters, pls share your secrets!)

I wanted to experience the FEMS congress since my baby PhD days in 2019 but did not get a chance to until now. It is absolutely exceeding my expectations, and I will tell you exactly why in the 🧵
