Layan and Mira are just two of more than 160 cases of children shot in the war in Gaza, for whom we have gathered accounts.
We found that in 95 of these cases, the child had been shot in the head or chest. In 59 of those, we obtained testimony from eyewitnesses, either directly or via human rights organisations and medics. The witnesses alleged that 57 of these children were shot by the IDF, and two were shot by Palestinians - one in celebratory gunfire and the other in a gang conflict.
For the remaining 36 out of the 95 cases, we have no account of what happened. Israel bans foreign reporters from entering Gaza independently, and the destruction and displacement make gathering details difficult.

The BBC has determined that 95 children in Gaza have been shot in the head or chest since October 7.

In other words, these are deliberate, targeted murders of childrenβ€”not accounting for the thousands upon thousands otherwise killed.

Psychedelic Therapy Crashed and Burned. MAHA Might Bring It Back Abuse allegations and infighting helped kill a campaign to legalize MDMA for medical use. Trumpworld is giving the therapy’s advocates hope for a second shot.

Psychedelic medicine, as it turns out, slots rather comfortably into the burn-it-all ethos of RFK Jr.’s movement. Could the psychedelic world’s new Trumpworld allies be the ones who finally help it achieve its goal of legalizing MDMA for medical use?

ISRAEL DETAINED AND then deported an American nurse who tried to save the life of Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian activist who worked on the Oscar-winning documentary film β€œNo Other Land.”

After Israeli settler Yinon Levi allegedly shot and killed Hathaleen on Monday in Umm al-Khair, a village in the occupied West Bank, the critical care nurse gave Hathaleen four rounds of CPR. She cradled his head in her hands, checking his pulse and whispering β€œYou’re OK,” as he bled out, the nurse told The Intercept. The medical worker asked not to be named because they fear for their safety. Hathaleen was then taken away in an ambulance, where he died before reaching the hospital.

Trump, Claiming Weak Jobs Numbers Were β€˜Rigged,’ Fires Labor Official

For months, people have been asking me whether I still trusted gov’t data. My answer was always the same: The stats agencies faced longstanding challenges, some of which Trump was making worse. But there was no sign of political meddling.
I can’t say that anymore.

Palantir Is Extending Its Reach Even Further Into Government Palantir has become one of the few winners in the Trump administration’s cost-cutting efforts, offering other contractors a lifeline while consolidating its own reach and power.

NEW: Palantir is carving out a unique role as not just a federal contractor but a partner to other contractors, putting it in an increasingly central role across the government. This is from @makenakelly.bsky.social

The Grave Long-Term Effects of the Gaza Malnutrition Crisis The WHO believes one in five children in Gaza are acutely malnourished, with the health effects potentially lasting for generations.

β€œThere’s so much traumatic injury, like blast wounds and broken bones. But they’re not healing, because people don’t have the nutrients to build the collagen necessary to close them. So wounds that are a month, even two months old, still look as fresh as if they had occurred in the last week.”

An extraordinary intrusion. Fighting anti-semitism has nothing to do with demonizing trans people but of course it was always a means to a much bigger end.

Today, Hathaleen was shot and killed by a Jewish settler who was sanctioned by the Biden admin, according to Hebrew news outlets.

The deadly risk of trying to reach food in Gaza An NPR journalist in Gaza describes his experience seeking food from a site run by private American contractors, facing Israeli military fire, crowds fighting for rations, and masked thieves.

. @npr.org is one of the only US national news organizations that still has a reporter inside Gaza, Anas Baba, and he keeps reporting even though he himself is starving. This piece is unbelievably powerful.
