FHFA's Pulte Says Fannie, Freddie Eyeing Stakes in Tech Firms
By Patrick Clark and Katy O'Donnell
11/07/2025 12:05:34 [BNJ
(Bloomberg) -- Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, said that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are looking at ways to take equity stakes in technology companies.
"We have some of the biggest technology and public companies offering equity to Fannie and Freddie in exchange for Fannie and Freddie partnering with them in our business," Pulte said Friday during an interview at a housing conference hosted by ResiClub. "We're looking at taking equity stakes in companies that are willing to give it to us because of how much power Fannie and Freddie have over the whole ecosystem."
Pulte has been seeking to revamp the two government-backed housing finance entities since taking over the FHFA, which oversees both Fannie and Freddie. Pulte, speaking remotely to ResiClub co-founder Anthony Pompliano, said Friday that he's seeking to have the two entities, which have been under government conservatorship since the financial crisis, act more like businesses.
Fannie Mae appointed a new acting chief executive officer, Peter Akwaboah, last month.

Pulte reiterated Friday that he thinks Fannie and Freddie will stay in conservatorship, with the government seeking to sell up to 5% of the entities. President Donald Trump's administration has been weighing a stake sale, Bloomberg News earlier reported.
"I anticipate that the president will make a decision either this quarter or early next year as it relates to the IPO," Pulte said.

AI Is Supercharging the War on Libraries, Education, and Human Knowledge "Fascism and AI, whether or not they have the same goals, they sure are working to accelerate one another."

The long-running ideological war on libraries, education, and government workers is not separate from AI boosterism. It is the same ideological war on human knowledge and expertise. In some cases AI is being used to directly supercharge this effort:

A second kidnap car drove by, a Kia with Arizona plates. Then a third: a Volkswagen ID.4, electric. Sometimes, the group said, it would see vehicles with no plates, or plates blacked out with electrical tape, or temporary paper plates that just so happened to tear off in the wind. Sometimes multiple cars would have the same plates; sometimes the numbers were laughably fake: ABC1234, for instance. Somehow, the cops never seemed to pull these cars over.
