How I've been feeling this week.
When will it feel like fall?

I can't stop thinking about this Frederick Douglass quote.

We can't stay silent about the dehumanization and cruelty those claiming Christ are exhibiting in our country. It is antithetical to the gospel, incompatible with Christianity, and the epitome of taking God's name in vain.

I wish there was more reflection on the impact of his parenting advice. The damage is immense.

The legacy of James Dobson is child abuse, misogyny, sexual shame, and authoritarianism. And the denigration of the gospel.

I'm disappointed that more wasn't said about the actual negative impact of his teaching on entire generations. Families are breaking apart *because* of his influence.

This is what I've been thinking about today as well.

Thinking of everyone affected by the flooding in SE Wisconsin.

The Apostle Islands sea caves lived up to the hype.

There is a direct through line from those saying "touch not God's anointed" when speaking up about pastoral abuse to "don't you love your country?" when speaking against the atrocities happening in this country under the current regime.

Telling someone they aren't allowed to resign from church membership and that private counseling details will be made public if they don't go to a meeting with church leaders is so cult-y.

I agree, and has anybody been enforcing this? I've experienced endorsements from the stage at more than one nonprofit, both a Bible School and a church, in 2004 and 2016.

Every Wisconsin Republican in Congress just voted to cut BadgerCare for thousands of Wisconsinites.

PLEASE consider the valid concerns of those who voted this administration into power. Yes, millions of people are going to lose their health insurance and/or jobs now but what if a trans person had won a swim meet?? What if pronouns in bio came to life and bit people who could afford medical care???

The cruelty is unfathomable.

I'm just looking at your books because I truly can't with this guy.

This is terrible, and I've been hearing more and more seem to not bother answering. The person who answers at my representative's office argues and lies about the legislation. It's wild out here.

If you call Scott Fitzgerald, be prepared for the aide to argue. This has been my experience the last several times, and the argument generally includes spin or straight-up lies.
