Good news — Speed limits are going down.

Legislation was passed by the Oireachtas last year to allow reductions in speed limits from 50 km/h to 30 in towns, and from 100 to 80 in rural areas. Default speeds were TOO HIGH.

Reducing them is a vital step forward for road safety.

I'm annoyed I couldn't make it to the opening today - work got in the way. As a local who gets around by bike, these new safe bike lanes are so welcome. Absolutely transforms the spin into town!

This is brilliant. Part of the spine of Dublin's cycle network is complete.

Expect reductions in traffic, air pollution, heart disease, road violence, diabetes and better wellbeing!
