Yeah, I can appreciate that. Does make it hard to see things at times though.

an update to my earlier #screenshotsaturday post. I've spent all day adding a bunch of outlines to a bunch of animations in Obliterator-X

I think this goes a long way in helping keep things clearer in those hectic moments!

Oh man, I'm doing this now and totally forgot that, along with 7-10 separate death animations for each enemy, they also have a completely different set of animations for EVERY ANIMATION while wading through water! 😭

If they were flat on the ground maybe, but the rear foot sits a pixel or 2 higher to give that looking down effect. Plus the blood in the sprites can't be outlined.

Yup, C3. Already tried them though and they don't look great for this perspective. There are areas where I don't want lines, such as where sprites touch the ground and spurts of blood.

The issue I have with using shaders for this is that there are areas where I don't want outlines, such as where feet touch the ground and blood bursting out of enemy sprites.

I'm thinking about adding black outlines to all the active objects in Obliterator-X so that they stand out better. Unfortunately it needs to be done manually to each frame which means a lot of work.

What do people think - worth doing or not?
