I was honored to be invited by Clara Lee & the organizing committee to help open the #API Rainbow Parents 10th anniversary conference in Manhattan three years ago this week (11.12.22) with one of the two keynote speeches in the opening plenary session:

One thing people of color and Jewish people have in common … those who hate us. And we won’t answer hate with hate, but we won’t tolerate those who try to dress it’s filth up and cal it clean and sweet-smelling!

The Week in Art Crime and Mischief Googly eyes on a sculpture, updates in the Louvre heist, a teenager arrested for damaging exhibits at the Met. Art crime made the news this month.

Remember the iPhone-sized painting by Pablo Picasso thatΒ went missingΒ in Spain last month, ahead of its scheduled shipment to a Granada museum? Turns out, aΒ neighborΒ named Dolores had accidentally picked up the package.

Senate reaches deal on ending the shutdown Democrats are coalescing around a bipartisan agreement to fund the government.

This is not a deal β€” it's an empty promise.

Trump and his Republican Congress are making healthcare more expensive for the middle class and ending it for working families.

Time for Democrats to stand tall for affordable healthcare. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothingβ€”to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-beingβ€”is unconscionable.

I’ve voted 7 times to reopen the government in a way that holds Trump accountable for his lawlessness and prevents a health care crisis.

I’m prepared to work toward a compromise, but this β€œdeal” before us does not come close to meeting those terms. Voting NO.

I wrote this a year ago. I wrote about Trump’s campaign of raci anxiety when he won the first time as did others. Look to see who is being platformed in this America that many of us predicted, and who has been disappeared. That will reveal a lot about this moment and what power wants us to believe.

In the midst of all that we are facing, I want us to think about who we are being told to look to for understanding in this moment, who is being propped up as the voice of wisdom, and ask how right were they in predicting this, a year ago, 5, 8 years ago, and then ask why they are being centered now

More broadly, officials across ICE say Noem and Lewandowski have directed them to use a $170
billion infusion of cash from Congress to launch splashy ideas that have proven ineffective or impractical.
Among the examples some ICE officials have cited: A few weeks ago, the pair ordered ICE officials to buy 10 737 jets from Spirit Airlines that they said would be used to boost deportation flightsβ€” and for their own travel, according to people familiar with the matter.
Some officials warned the pair that the effort would be prohibitively expensive compared with hiring more flight contractors, the people said.

Once the officials looked into the proposal, they learned that Spirit, which filed for bankruptcy for a second time in August, didn't own the planes. The planes also don't have engines, which would need to be purchased separately.
The project has since been put on pause, though DHS recently purchased two Gulfstream jets for $200 million, according to Democrats on the House Appropriations Committee, who were notified by the department.
A spokesperson for Spirit didn't respond to a request for comment.

The WSJ on how unbelievably stupid Noem and Lewandowski are.

I don’t care that I’m late to this; it’s to good to pass up.

At least they FINALLY admitted why they refused to negotiate on the shutdown. First they lied and promised Dems they would β€œnegotiate” this, but only AFTER they voted for the CR. But Dems were correct when they assessed that Republicans NEVER intended to extend these subsidies.

Justice KBJ is a brilliant strategist. She is working the rules to compel timely review of the stay in the SNAP case by both the Circuit Court and by the Supreme Court. This is why knowing which SCOTUS justice has supervision of the Circuit you file in is essential.

Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as β€˜normal’ Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

"Europeans recognize his vision about free public transit and universal childcare. We expect our governments to make these kinds of services accessible to all of us,” said Verbeek. β€œWe pay higher taxes and get civilized societies in return."

The Left Is About to Take Power. The Stakes Could Not Be Higher. Zohran Mamdani's triumph has given socialists huge power in New York City. Now they must use it wellβ€”or see the ruling class crush them.

The same strategy and message that worked so well for Mamdani can be used to challenge corporate Democrats in the midtermsβ€”and empower the left all over America. @alvar0l0pez.bsky.social explains how.

They tried to unseat AOC but she really is the OG of using her social media to keeping her support strong.

The Republican governors threatening action against NY if Mandan wins are quite strange. I’ve never seen such desperation from people who have absolutely nothing to do with NY and have no jurisdiction.
