Text: After losing out on her dream job at the Library of Congress, Kathleen “Sour Grapes” Gallagher is done chasing things. Not jobs, not boyfriends, not Beyoncé tickets. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen, and if not, she never wanted it anyway. So when a disgraced movie mogul taps her for a vanity project tracking down missing volumes from the Library of Congress’s original collection, Kathleen only accepts the gig to appease her well-meaning mentor. Never mind his hints that this might be her chance to escape academic exile.
Across the National Mall at the Library of Congress’s archival arch-rival, Smithsonian historian Dr. Grant Ordoñez vows to get revenge on the Hollywood mogul who stalled his sister’s promising acting career by finding the missing books first. As the eldest son of a mixed-status immigrant family, Grant is used to playing catch-up, so he’s confident he can outpace an entitled librarian who doesn’t even have a PhD and seems immune to the concept of actual work.
But Grant finds out that Kathleen isn’t some lazy nepo baby when his interference forces Kathleen to actually do her job—and to confront what she gave up by leaving her dream behind. As they chase leads around the Beltway and back, their frigid rivalry turns into a love affair steamier than a summer in the nation’s capital. But with their feuding institutions breathing down their necks, Grant and Kathleen learn that finding what you’re looking for isn’t the same thing as getting to keep it.

Text: I’m halfway across the room when Grant speaks again. “Hey Kathleen, how tall are you?”
“Five foot six,” I say automatically. Then I stop and turn around. “Wait, why? How tall are you?”
“Five-eleven,” he says.
“If you were actually five-eleven, you’d round up to six feet,” I challenge.
“That’s small-minded of you.” He lowers his laptop screen. There’s a smile playing around his mouth. “I prefer to play the long game and round down to five-ten. Make the other five-elevens sweat a little.”
I laugh. “That’s surprisingly diabolical. And you still haven’t answered my question.”
Grant looks pointedly at the books in my arms and thumbs something into his phone. “I just want to be sure I’m giving the U.S. Marshals an accurate description of the midnight book thief.”
“Oh my god, it’s not even six o’clock in the evening.”
He peers around the desk hutch at me. “‘But wearing high heels, so… five foot nine?”

Revenge, vigilante justice, or both? A shady government agency offered Lucy freedom in exchange for six months of secret experiments. They drugged her, stole her free will, bloodied her hands, and left her for dead. Should have finished the job.

Excerpt
Angela releases him, and I get my first look at the photojournalist every woman swoons over. His tan skin contrasts with the light blue of his button-up, the sleeves of which are rolled up to his elbows. His curly black hair and dark stubble give him a rugged look that would make me a little weak in the knees if I wasn’t already sitting.
“I’m so pleased you agreed to join us for this story! This is your partner, Rowan Adams.”
“Pleasure to meet you.” I stand and hold out my hand, forgetting it’s wet from the condensation on the iced latte I set on Angela’s desk.
“Likewise." he gives me the shortest handshake known to man before pulling back and glaring down at his wet palm.
“Sorry! I promise it’s nothing gross. Just water.” I grab my coffee and hold it up to show that I’m not a liar, but it slips out of my hand.
Time slows as the cup tips through the air and the lid pops off. The liquid douses his bag and my favorite flats, and I clap a hand over my mouth, horrified. His expression is less than amused.

Pitch: Dean is still in the closet as bisexual to everyone except his girlfriend, Trish. When he and Trish decide to explore polyamory in secret, the man they choose happens to live with Dean’s classmate (the one with a crush on Dean). If their secret comes out, so will Dean. But the longer the relationship lasts, the trickier it becomes to keep both the secret and the man.

Underneath are three images with names and descriptions. Dean: Introverted over-thinker who worries too much about how others see him. Image is of nervous looking young man leaning against a brick wall. Trish: Confident on the outside extrovert who is full of insecurities on the inside. Image of young woman with long red hair and an unimpressed expression. West: Loudmouthed extrovert, told he is too much so many times, he thinks it’s true. Image of young man in hat with cheesey grin.

Opening lines: Dean had fucked up. He needed Trish to make it better. He needed her to console him after the most awkward, idiotic social blunder of his life. He needed her to not be mad at him about this. There was little chance of that last one.

Underneath are images of a woman and man looking at a phone, a stage, two men standing close to each other on a stage, three people laying together, a woman with finger to lips, two men sitting on a bed together, a woman holding hands with two other people and a woman looking shocked.

Old school looking book cover: Ominous redheaded girl overlooking the Earth.
Book title, Tangle and Tether, Brilliance of Earth, Book One.

More about the book:

Brilliance Overland is a prodigy who craves answers and adventure. Her invention— latticed entanglement aperture passthroughs (LEAP)—opens a quantum-based wormhole to a world more advanced, yet far more backward than she imagined. With her best friend Annie, Brilliance enrolls at Avram Circle, the premier science academy in a system of interlinked worlds, hoping to unravel their origins. But in a place where every relationship is entangled, every truth is knotted with lies, and every discovery leads to deeper complexity, Brilliance finds that her will and scientific principles alone can’t untangle the mess.

Brilliance relies on Annie’s empathy to navigate the social brambles rooted in this new world, but as Brilliance buries her own “unproductive” feelings, Annie’s patience frays. When their friendship is tested, Brilliance must confront the tethers that bind her: Unspoken grief for her mother, whose voice and lessons echo as AI in her mind; the causal chains that connect her actions to unintended consequences; and the realization that even in a universe of infinite possibility, some bonds—of love, loss, and home—are impossible to sever.

To survive forces that want to control them, Brilliance must learn that true understanding isn’t just about unraveling mysteries, but about embracing the beautiful, messy tangle of relationships and the tethers that hold us together—even across worlds.

Themes:
- Quantum entanglement as a metaphor for the complexity and messiness of relationships, regardless of time or distance.
- Tethering as both a source of strength (home, love, memory) and a challenge (grief, responsibility, causality)
- The interplay between scientific genius and emotional intelligence
- The search for origins—of worlds, of self, of the bonds that shape us

Good Boys Only pitch. Includes a stock image of a man with tattoos, and a plus-size woman. Emoticons of a pawprint and leaf. Split green background with sage green and light green. With this text: After her boyfriend of six years moves out, retail manager Sydney Bennett is barely hanging on—juggling long shifts and a side hustle dog-sitting to tide her over. When she meets Owen Sutton in the personal care aisle after a rant about two “demonic Pomeranians,” he’s instantly charmed—and in need of a sitter for his own, much better-behaved dogs.

What starts as a business arrangement turns into something gentler and deeper: a slow-burning romance between two people still healing from betrayal. But as Sydney faces losing her apartment and the past comes back to haunt Owen, they’ll have to decide if the safety they’ve found in each other is worth risking their hearts for.

Whew, I’m gonna need to sit down.” Owen beams at me, and it’s a blast of electricity straight to my heart. “But think about it—you can finally get out of retail hell. I can help you, too. With a business plan. I’m kinda good at that stuff.” His grin turns sheepish before he dips his pinky finger into the sauce, sneaking a taste.
My body processes the feeling before I do, and I lean closer to him, a newfound buoyancy floating across my limbs. “You’d do that for me?”
“I’m not sure when you’ll get it through your pretty head that I’d do anything for you, Syd. Literally anything you asked.” He steps toward me, body radiating heat like the oven, casting me in a warm glow.
His words have my stomach sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Tension circles the space between us, grasping the string and yanking us impossibly close. I scan across him, the art decorating his perfect form, and it’s suddenly a bucket list item to be part of his canvas. “Would you get a tattoo for me?”
Owen’s nostrils flare and he squeezes his fists, as if he can feel the sting of the needle inking me onto him. “What’d you have in mind?” he chokes out.
I crane my neck. He’s so close, eclipsing the steam from the pan surely teetering toward burnt. I can’t find it in me to care. “I think a sage leaf sprig would suffice, since you do love using my middle name.”
“I’m not opposed. Where would you want it? Somewhere hidden? Where you’d only see it if I let you? Maybe front and center for a daily reminder of you?” He shifts. Our chests brush. Breathing is an illusion, a magic trick. I’ve never drawn in a breath in my life.

What to expect: Dual POV, black cat x golden retriever, second-chance romance, friends to lovers, found family, immigrant story (#OwnVoices). Themes: love, identity, and belonging, being caught between two cultures, the cost of community is inconvenience (and sometimes, sadly, conformity)
