I bought a thrift store Jesus to be part of a Van Helsing costume.

Exploring the Backrooms. 50 kilometres of dark hallway with endless dusty massage tables. Occasionally you’ll find a darkened, unplugged Pepsi machine. When plugged in, they only dispense expired almond water.

This is Lilu aka Bitey the Vampire. She’s been gone for several years but she was one one of a kind.

Grilling/fire roasting a dozen or so ears of Silver Rill peaches n’ cream corn.

We made elotes (Mexican street corn) with a few ears for dinner tonight, and shaved the rest off the cobs for freezing. That way we have access to good corn when it’s out of season 😋

OH SHIT THE MORMONS JUST SET UP SHOP 3 FEET FROM ME WITH THEIR LITERATURE STAND AND EVERYTHING.

So they’re painting the walkways at our building & I can’t get back in till 1ish.

Grabbed a Sneaky Weasel & also some BBQ chips from H Mart and am reading a China Miéville novel (Embassytown) on my phone along the Gorge while I wait.

The chips are good, but are more like Pringles than chips.

Can I install it on my BB Playbook?

It’s awesome. It’s stripped down vs previous iterations. But the drinks are pretty cheap & the vibe is unmatched. It’s legit feels like a 90s club cuz everybody is there. All types. Goths (cyber & trad), homies, ravers, fetish people, metal guys, etc all existing peacefully

Yay Delta Heavy! Have you been to Downbeat (former Hush/Rumors) they’ve had some legit old school D&B njghts. But yeah.. late start times.

Nice thing about punk shows at Lucky; you’re out there by 10 so they can let the bar stars in.

Potato salad is from the deli counter & pork is from the instant pot, not gonna lie.

Additional tidbit: Due to the shallowness of the Gorge it does not suffer from significant stratification where less dense fresh water sits above denser salt water, which is more common on inlets with a depth of 20m or more.

A little baked and doing a deep dive into the salinity of the Gorge Waterway.

The question: Does salinity decrease the further up the Gorge you go?

Answer: Yes. Craigflower & Colquitz creeks are a significant source of freshwater runoff leading to lower salinity conditions further up the estuary.

I try and do one fun thing using scrap material on Fridays.

That’s what most people suggested lol, but the fact that I was getting it EVERYWHERE - door handles, faucets, etc was starting to bother me.

This is what happens when you promise your 5 year old niece that they can apply your zinc before going boogie boarding.
