A real photo postcard looking towards the Stewart, British Columbia, Canada, main street from a wooden bridge crossing Rainey Creek. Above the bridge hangs a sign that says, Stewart, 20 miles per hour. To the photographers back, the road continues 3 kilometers to Hyder, Alaska.
My latest Stewart, BC postcard acquisition is a good one because it shows a wooden bridge over Rainey Creek (now itโs asphalt with a culvert, but in the same spot) and a 20 mph sign from Canadaโs pre-metric times. This view is coming from the Hyder, AK side ๐

A letterpress print that states in light blue in the background, you are a blessing; and in bronze in the foreground, I love you more than love.
I have to laugh at myself a little because I have a lot of love I seem to need to print out. This one is very much for my husband to whom I am always saying these two things ๐

A cow and calf were out traversing the pond complex a few moments ago. I love it when the moose make an appearance ๐

A letterpress print that reads, I am always connected to my heart.
So far, my 2026 printing has been revolving around love (Iโm only five prints in, so that could change). Also, Iโm using an out-of-the-package, untrimmed-by-me, letter-size, index-card-weight paper that Iโm really digging ๐

A text message from my mom to me briefly discussing her volunteer work making doggie booties for the 1974 Iditarod.
I told my mom that my husband thinks sheโs a secret survivalist and she texted me back saying that one of the influencing events for that was sewing doggie booties for the 1974 Iditarod ๐

I have used 6x9โ envelopes to send folded letterpress items (sometimes just done on printer paper). That envelope size (non-rigid) is the largest that still requires only one regular stamp which makes it a size I love very much. And it feels a bit sturdier to me than a #10 envelope. ๐

I really, really, really want to print but itโs +23F outside right now and I can hear birds chirping. Even the intense desire to put ink on paper canโt make me stay inside today. Oh, itโs so glorious. The way-below-zero temps arenโt over, but right now I will celebrate ๐

A letterpress print that is in progress. One layer states, 2026; the other, another year of love. A third layer is TBD.
Working on my first print of the year. The third layer is yet to be determined. My goal for 2026? Be the love I wish to see (and be).
Iโm using new paper this year and a different size. Iโve gone from 6x8โ to 8.5x11โ. Weโll see how it goes. Letterpress journaling in Alaska continues๐

Arrived home from Juneau trip last night to a frozen bathhouse and -55F temps. Today is looking up with -20F and a Costco taco platter. Juneau was fun, even if the massive snowfall had mostly shut everything down. My mom brought me a suitcase of goodies from Reno & it felt damned good to hug her ๐

And now everyone is starting to disperse to their cars (and not back into the building). I think Iโm ready for my Juneau adventures to stop. Although this is still preferable to the -40 weโve got back home right now.

Such a crazy time to be in Juneau. Set up for my show is postponed until tomorrow (at least). Many places are closed. Walking around is nearly impossible. But to have hot running water, a washer and dryer, and an indoor toilet? I donโt care the weather, itโs heaven. And my mom flies in tonight ๐

Planes still flew ๐
I was super surprised we were able to fly into Juneau yesterday. Iโm glad for the snow, though. Itโs such a reprieve from the way-below-zero weather weโve been having in Kenny Lake. What does one do on a snowy Sunday in Juneau? Hopefully it includes making snow angels ๐
