It also slowly soaks into whatever surface the cotton balls are sitting on though so this method might not be for you if you dont want the oils being direcly in your clouds

Idk what your clouds are made of but if you soak cotton balls in the oils it stays around a long time. Id still recommend checking up there now and then but in my experience one set of cotton balls soaked in mint works against mice for half a year or more, so hopefully would do the same for bugs
