It's really weird how many people are willing to die on the hill of defending an ex-mercenary who had a Nazi tat and lied about when he got it because he's running to be the nominee in a race that's over half a year away

Plemons is maybe the scariest guy I've ever seen on screen, and I think him, Stone, and the guy playing Donny should win multiple awards

I respect Yargos for the swing he took in that final 10 minutes but I also don't think it works

The Starmer re-elect is dead. The souffle does not rise twice, the prime minister does not come back from that kind of approval rating, or indeed the level of hatred he inspires in the country now.

i know this kind of thing was always ~a thing historically, but it just feels so demeaning coming from news sites who are meant to be above it that they can't just plainly explain "this happened" without it being 'fun' and 'relatable'

plus it's all just wargaming (even if 40k itself feels more a deck builder like MTG in terms of its gameplay this edition)

90% of it is basically the same vibe as cheering the heel on in a wrestling match

One sad thought about not going to London semi-regualrly now is that I probably won't see it again for a while

in it Milton Keynes has become a megalopolis and obviously that didn't improve the vibes

I should finish writing my novel about Milton Keynes

the Miliband patter is funny because there's six or seven women who are much more better positioned to become leader but sure people are circling the guy whose previous leadership was a fucking mess

I feel like there's been a surge in content about Milton Keynes

I think it's sweet how much Vince Gilligan seems to love working in Albuquerque

A straight adaptation of Moonraker or one which just updates Drax to be literally Elon Musk (though Bond fought Musk before so might be a bit old hat) I beg

I think a lot of people also just forget that the reason a lot of classical queer theorists were left-libs and anarchists was not because they started there, but as a reaction to the world that was oppressing them and the one they imagined as its alternative

I think online culture really encourages this kind of intra-community performance of cruelty

combine with the "Democrats are the only party who are allowed to have agency" issue and you just run headlong into this nasty intersection

which in turn leads to this broader problem where a lot of people who never unpacked their internalised -phobias due to believing by virtue of being queer they cannot be -phobic see these public figures (and often private figures) as acceptable targets for failing to pass an arbitrary standard

in any case the most appropriate comparison to McBride and she's talked about is I'd think Buttigieg, where people project onto them the notion that their mere existence is a repudiations of queer political theory by virtue of them not being anarchists or left-libertarians

Irrespective of if the Ombudsman was right or wrong the Government's handling was a disaster of telling people who campaigned for them to fuck off and die, and I'm not really sure why press/posters reheating rhetoric now were seeing a partial u-turn helps that
