Fearing Violent Threats, CDC Medical Experts Are Scared To Talk About Vaccine Safety "I have many that won't speak about vaccines now and have removed their names off of papers," said former CDC chief medical officer Debra Houry.

Dr. Deb Houry, former CDC chief medical officer: “I have many that won’t speak about vaccines now and have removed their names off of papers. They don’t wish to present publicly anymore because they feel they were personally targeted because of misinformation.”

This is frightening.

Holy shit, read this whole thing. The people who have been worried about the Dreamliner for years were particularly worried about the ones delivered to Air India.

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously

But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state

Keep that same energy of support for her

Wastewater monitoring is an essential public health tool that provides insights into the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses in Ottawa. We need an early warning system to inform everyone about the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 and other viruses.

Just this morning, a guy said he “did the research” and “women don’t know what they want.” When I pushed back, he admitted he did no research. He asked Gemini. Not a single one of his dois worked. I cannot overemphasize how toast we are as a society.

This cannot be emphasized enough, speaking as someone who directly works to keep food and drugs safe. You simply do not know exactly how much arsenic, for example, is found in natural and organically produced food, unless it is measured, and that requires more than one person with a test kit can do.

The CFPB is one of those things where like, virtually every single person in the United States would support its existence if they were told the truth about what it is/does. Or used to do, I guess.

plenty of cultures value children, but the US is unique in valuing the *idea* of children while enabling violence against actual kids and keeping them in privation at every turn

i talk about this with data all the time: if you don’t understand the data fully, you’re likely to find things that you don’t understand. talking to experts can clear these kinds of things up. but you should do that *before* you publicize what you found.

If Republicans don’t care when children are killed by preventable gun violence in schools, they also aren’t going to care when they die of preventable illnesses like measles.

HHS is cutting Long Covid funding. They declared the pandemic “over” and LC research a “waste of time”

The pandemic is not over. Millions are suffering & more get sick every day.

We are truly on our own. Protect yourself. Wear a mask. The only way to avoid Long Covid is to not get Covid.

When someone dies of Covid, the first question people ask is “how many comorbids did they have?”

They’re quick to assign blame. To label the person an “other” & make their death palatable

To tell those of us with disabilities our lives aren’t worth saving

This attitudes paves the way for fascism

Can you imagine what it would be like to renovate a house for Elon Musk? Picture it: He buys an old Victorian next to a tract zoned IR, and spends double what it’s worth. The contractor, an expert on historic Victorians, meets him at the house.

Contractor: “So it’s got great bones. We could refinish all this …”
Elon, interrupting: “No no, it’s the most inefficient house in the world. We’re going to get rid of that wall there, and eliminate every other step in this staircase, for starters. Also, fire all your tile guys I don’t like them.”
Contractor: “But that’s a load bearing …”
Elon: “Don’t care. It’s inefficient. You’re fired.”
Contractor: “You already paid me half up front.”
Elon: “OK you’re unfired, but you have to remove that wall too.”
Contractor: “Sir, that’s an exterior wall …”
Elon: “It’s blocking my view.”
Contractor: “Of the concrete batch plant?”
Elon: “The what? Doesn’t matter. Remove all that stuff.”
Contractor sighs, gets team to work. They remove every other step, the load bearing wall, the the exterior wall, and 10 windows Musk determined were “not necessary.”
-Five days later, Musk stands in a house teaming with concrete particulate and cockroaches, nursing a broken arm and bruised shins, and tries to sell the whole place because it sucks now. Someone offers him $8, and instead he sets it on fire. The end.

I wrote this three years ago when Musk just started messing up Twitter and it is even more accurate today.
