What to prepare

Describe what must come across, Color etc. most artists take references or a style sheet of the oc. A 1:1 copy of another artists artwork is a big no no. Also stay realistic- a a5 full body portrait won’t show iris colors and details like intricate jewels. Always ask we don’t bite

I don’t have money!

Search for the nearest RPG or gaming con. There is an artist alley with cheaper commissions for sketches.
Some artists can tell you what you get for your budget. Just dont ask for free or less than half of their cheapest offer.

I know no artists who take commissions!

- follow the tags or lists of people posting comissions like #opencomissions #TTRPGart and system specific tags like #vtm or #dsa
- there are platforms like artistree Etsy, but that is only an option if you need something quick. Also beware of Ai sweatshops

This is cool! I’d use Archive.org for a ton of old art ooks. If it’s a specific scene/mood I recommend (for private use) screengrab databases like shot.cafe
. If you like a genre eg. Noir, it makes sense to create a moodboard eg. I use pureRef for all kinds of reference collection (free app)
