Following or reposting definitely doesn't always equate to endorsing. Sometimes it is just morbid curiosity. Views all my own.

14.10.2025 19:34 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I am really proud to be part of a union that is standing up for all colleagues and their jobs. Our members are really special and we thank them for voting again and winning the ability to choose to take industrial action, if it comes to that.

We will not give up. We care about our university, our students and our city. It has been a very long time since anyone at the top did. Thatβs got to change.
UCU is horrified by the appalling attack at the Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester during Yom Kippur.
Our deepest condolences go to those who lost loved ones, and our solidarity to our Jewish members and the wider community.

When Trump spews his bullshit about an American city, or university, or whatever, itβs vitally important that locals provide these simple but effective rebuttals
27.09.2025 21:19 β π 1346 π 375 π¬ 31 π 10βOpen and transparent communicationβ has been the mantra of the acting Chair of Court and interim Principal since July, following the Gillies report and parliamentary evidence sessions.
Well let you decide if thatβs being followed.
The Courier yesterday stated that Nigel Seaton will be staying on for another year.
We strongly oppose this reporting.
As they mention, Court will have to give final approval But this is reported as a done deal. It isnβt!
All Court members should be able to share their views at the next meeting.
Remember when UEG told us βthere was no plan Bβ for further redundancies.
Now we know, from the published Recovery Plan, that at the same time they were proposing over 400 future job losses including over 350 redundancies.
We cannot trust their words.
Vote in our ballot now to protect jobs.
The University Recovery Plan submitted by Court and UEG can now be shared. The campus unions are hosting a joint Townhall event to share the plan, so everyone can make their own judgements on what was proposed, including the number of redundancies.
Join us this Thursday 12:30 in LT3 Dalhousie.
Solidarity with colleagues from

who are striking because they are threatened with compulsory redundancy despite the fact _There is NO Deficit_ Just a reduction in income curtailing vanity projects

06.09.2025 16:27 β π 25 π 5 π¬ 0 π 1The Scottish Government kicked out a proposal for 632 compulsory redundancies and that was replaced with 300 voluntary. Our interim principal submitted a "Recovery Plan" (aka evisceration) with over 400 more redundancies and said we were happy with it.

This is a complete disgrace @ucu.org.uk
Sort yourselves out.
Jo Grady calling Queen Mary management "vindictive" for making deductions from UCU members taking action short of a strike: Jo Grady, UCU's general secretary, said Queen Mary's senior management had "launched a vindictive attack" on its members, "punishing them for taking part in lawful industrial action" and "cementing its reputation as the worst university employer in the UK" She said: "It is wrong to do this at any time and all the more deplorable as staff struggle to make ends meet in a cost of living crisis."
Screen shot of the article from The Guardian about Queen Mary ASOS deductions in which Jo Grady is quoted
π¨ Third consecutive vote for industrial action π¨
β
strike action: 76%
β
action short of a strike (ASOS): 80%
β
turnout: 77%
ASOS begins today with @ucu.org.uk threatening staff: "We'll deduct your wages."
Double standards and vindictive attacks undermine us all.

19.08.2025 20:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The University of Dundee has announced it will defer the 1.4% national pay rise for staff in higher education.
With inflation above 3% this means hard working staff at the University will be getting at least a 3% real terms pay cut this year.
We are delighted to share that the threat of redundancy has now been removed from two areas that had been targeted - Leverhulme Centre for Forensic Science and Education Assistive Technology.
Congrats to our colleagues! We will continue to fight for all staff and the future of University of Dundee.
Brave testimony from Professors Angela Daly @nidhalaigh.bsky.social and Annalu Waller @usabilitydoc.bsky.social , who with others, have been targeted for redundancies by the University.

27.06.2025 16:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Redundancies at the University of Dundee have just been ruled out!
Thank you to Prof Nigel Seaton our interim Principal for confirming this and for STV for sharing this with the world!
We need a fresh approach & a new culture to tackle Dundee's crisis.
More investment is welcome. But without bringing in staff & students, this money will only enable more of the toxic governance culture at the University of Dundee.
