there's no contradiction or hypocrisy if you understand that what they mean when they say "pedo sex trafficker" does not actually have any overlap with either sexual abuse or human trafficking. what they fear is that their children--their sexual property--will want self-determination & personhood.

Tom Fishburne cartoon from https://marketoonist.com/2023/03/ai-written-ai-read.html aptly describing how AI creates messages from three bullet points into expanded text ... which is fed at the other end into AI to extract three bullet points. Lossly, one assumes.

Dumb AI use in schools set to do wonders for the lazy teacher trope. And yes, I know teachers are overworked: I was. But rushing to use AI is the worst possible answer to this problem.

I think we’re on the cusp of mass attempts to automate teaching, and I also think it is going to be a massive wasteful failure in ways that will make the β€œlearning loss” of the pandemic look like a speed bump next to a mountain.

3 Aug 25 - New study shows vast "over-representation of trans boys" turns out to be vast _under-representation_ of trans girls bec. they: a) come out ~10 years later; b) start puberty later; & c) delay transitioning longer because of deep social animus towards AMAB femininity.

The top comment on this is amazing. β€œWhat if this was a women’s refuge?” Well, what if it was a spaceship? What if it was the lost city of Atlantis? Really makes you think.

I asked you to explain this social norm so you would hear how stupid it sounds

And I'm not going to do it automatically because it's dumb and i don't want to

If we stopped saying β€œautistic people can’t understand social norms” and started saying β€œautistic people can’t sanction social norms” nobody would like us any better I suppose

People *without* executive dysfunction are finding that using chatgpt buries them under multitasking: they have to expend more effort and attention in more tasks to check that it hasn't outputted *absolute fucking nonsense*

Teaching is hard work. Getting shit done is easy. Just admit you’re tired and get to work on figuring out how we make it more equitable without shortchanging students. They don’t give out gold stars for it, but you don’t get to do the things you used to think were important without doing the work.

So that thing you think is allowing you to do more with less? Is actually keeping you from doing the most important part of your job.

We have more work to do and less time to think about it because they want *our* critical thinking skills to atrophy. Can’t teach critical thinking if you’re not a critical thinker. That’s the entire point of attacking public education. Always has been.

30.07.2025 10:23 β€” πŸ‘ 151    πŸ” 39    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 4

If we don’t recognize that the system of underfunding education and constantly putting more pressure on educators to do more with less is deliberately giving *us* less time to think critically about our work, educators are missing the point.

Explicit support for trans rights or get in the bin. Why this glaring omission to be left to the people? Why do we have to beg when you clearly recognise all these other injustices?

Starmer asked to explain why recognition of Palestinian statehood is conditional.

Starmer asked to explain why recognition of Palestinian statehood is conditional.

Because he doesn't believe Palestinian lives are equal to Israeli lives.

Because he's totally lost his humanity in his bubble where he sees peoples lives as bargaining chips.

And because the man is devoid of all principles and compassion.

Next question.

It absolutely makes sense that men are using AI more and seeing more job benefits, because confidently spouting nonsense in the shape of information (what LLMs are programmed to do) has always been much more of a pathway for career advancement for men than for others.

dear liberals,

we are not moving this time. we are not budging. we are not voting for your shitty candidate. we are not voting for your shitty party. if you do not want reform to win then you must vote for a left wing party.

we are not moving this time. you have to.

make your fucking mind up.

As we do that, we'll become better at it.

That is how you actually work towards the state withering away; not by capitulating to state logics, but by demonstrating we don't need it and learning how to do what the state does, better.

It's hard! It takes effort and time and will be opposed!

05.07.2025 09:11 β€” πŸ‘ 60    πŸ” 13    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

This is obviously a huge problem if you actually want to change and reform the system.

And it is why we should be building mutual aid and direct action organisations; things which teach us how to take responsibility for ourselves, how to get the things we want without the state.

That is quite clearly true. You see it every time you develop a new skill.

So if you invest all your energy in organising and electioneering within the existing system - you'll become really good... at using that system and only that system. It will become your main tool.

If you have seen the study

how it can possibly be that
β€œLife expectancy
didn’t return to baseline
after Covid pandemic,”
remember that we are not
β€œafter Covid pandemic”
but unfortunately still
in the Covid pandemic.

I could never have imagined, before I started doing this work, that I would come to believe what I now do: in the sheer ugliness, venality and dishonesty, of Britain's media and institutions and politicians. They literally do not give a fuck. Sorry to those who know I should have got here sooner.

Chatbots β€” LLMs β€” do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re β€œright” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.
