this is a good convo/point! bc i wonder how common it’ll become to see ALL creators cite sources within content. even those who don’t necessarily make political content. i see many “trusted” creators cover political news with no sources. esp on tiktok

The prohibition comes into effect 270 days after enactment for ByteDance or TikTok, or 270 days after the presidential determination for any other foreign adversary application. The prohibition does not apply if the application is divested from foreign adversary control prior to the end of the 270-day period. Upon certain certifications, the President may extend the deadlines by up to 90 days one time.

Part of the issue with ad monetization on social media is that it incentivizes people to react to or summarize news content for the most reward instead of actually doing journalism, which is also disincentivized with legal threats

Made a TikTok vid last year about my thoughts on creator vs influencer. In just a short year, I feel like things have changed again. Influencers to me, read heavily like celebrities now. Esp once they rely less on income filtered via social media platforms
