my current approach is to hold on for dear life to my little island of relatively nontoxic tech for a few more years, support other trans folks as best as i can where i can, and start making plans for what i’d like to do next.

even if you dodge the worst of it, it colors your decision making and is a persistent source of anxiety. and if your a middle aged trans lady and you also factor in the sexism and ageism of your industry …

as someone who is privileged enough to be in the “trans girls in tech” class and also still have the same job i had prior to transition (w a promotion even) — this has been starkly obvious in my friend group and also noticeably worse now than 5 years ago.

there is an employment crisis among trans women and there always has been, but good luck getting people to see it
