Jennifer, the lovely French Veterinarian, and Jaakusaaq from East Greenland were amazing!

Made it back to the US after a protracted extraction from Greenland. Met some lovely people and the scenery was amazing, but I don't think I am able to be a crew member with an Expedition Leader barking orders at this stage in my career.

Found a new site while passengers were hiking up a moraine to see a glacier. Cool tent rings, likely within the last 200 years. Report to send to the Nunavut archaeologists after the cruise.

I was a very excited zooarchaeologist, as my favorite pinniped was on display at a house in Siorapaluk, Greenland. There was also a 2-tusked narwhal!! Extremely rare.

I'm an archaeology"naturalist" on a cruise sailing the west coast. I've only ever worked in the far north, so I'm excited to see other parts of Greenland that I have only read (or written) about.

On my way to Greenland . . . I hope. Day 2 of waiting at the Copenhagen Airport. At least I was able to escape briefly to the National Museum before the called me back for a reschedule or a previously canceled flight.

She had to purchase a ticket to Vancouver via Air Canada. Meanwhile her Canadian citizen husband was allowed to fly back to the US. Now she must travel with both passports. As dual citizens, my husband and I travel with both. I was nearly refused entry to Canada because I pulled out the wrong one.

Unfortunately, this is not new. My MIL is a dual citizen of the US and Canada, but lives in Canada. She flew to San Fran and then to London on her Canadian passport, but when she tried to return to San Fran via Virgin, the airline (not US customs) refused to let her board.

Lallemand said he borrowed his friend’s boat and was fishing near Venise-en-Québec, which is roughly 15 kilometres north of the U.S. border at the northern tip of Lake Champlain. He says he has been fishing for decades and is adamant that he was in Canadian waters when the Coast Guard showed up and told him to turn off his engine, to which he complied. The three officers told him he was in U.S. territory. “I said, ‘No, I’m very sorry, I’m in Canada.’ And I said I’m polite enough to talk to you guys but you cannot arrest me. ‘You can’t come across the border and pick me up’ but they did,” he recalled. Lallemand started his engine and said he wanted to talk with the officers by the shore, but the Coast Guard followed and tried to push him into the U.S., which is what caused him to go overboard. “They’re tying my boat to their boat. They’re not even taking care of me. The third time I went down, coming out with water in my mouth, spitting it out, I said throw me a buoy,” he said. Once on their vessel, he said he was aggressively put in handcuffs. “I never saw somebody so angry,” he said. He was then handed over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, who fingerprinted him, put him in a jail cell with his clothes soaking wet, and gave him a “dirty” blanket.

A Quebec fisherman who was fishing 15 kilometers north of the US border was essentially kidnapped by US Border Patrol, who capsized his boat and dragged him to an American prison cell.

In any normal time this'd be quite the international incident, y'know?
